LED Bulbs
These LED light bulbs provide very low energy lighting with extremely long life, typically 30000 hours. In addition they have considerable environmental benefits because the very low electricity consumption means that CO2 emissions are minimal during electricity generation and the long life means that there is a reduction in landfill. The LED MR16 bulb is a direct replacement for the Halogen 12 volt MR16 bulb and the LED GU10 a direct replacement for the Halogen 240 volt GU10 bulb with no changes needed to the wiring or lighting units. There are 2 additional benefits firstly, due to the low power consumption, less load is put on the transformers reducing the probability of transformer failure, and secondly, due to the very low heat output compared to standard halogen bulbs, fire risk is significantly reduced.
Some LED MR16 bulbs require a specialist driver for the bulb to operate for the expected lifetime, say 30000. Our LED MR16 bulbs do not need a specialist driver and will operate in line with the rated lifetime from the majority of standard 12volt transformer.
These LED light bulbs come with either multiple LED diodes, typically 38 or 80, or in high power LED bulbs with typically a single 3 watt LED unit or 3 x 1 watt LED's. The higher power LED Bulbs have 3 x 2 watt LED's.
LED bulbs are far less fragile than CFL's or halogen bulbs and can withstand knocks and bangs to a much greater extent. In addition they are more resilient to rapid temperature changes and to repeated switching on and off.
The exceptional energy saving and environmental characteristics of the LED light bulb make the LED bulb the ultimate in energy saving light bulbs .

There are many different ways to view the potential benefits of moving to LED bulbs from conventional light bulbs. Some people simply want to reduce their carbon footprint and as happy to take whatever measures are necessary to achieve these goals. Other people are far more focussed on day to day costs and really want to get a good financial perspective on their investment and take the environmental benefits of LED bulbs as a very well received addition. The actual determination of the financial saving is twofold since it is necessary to take into account not only the electricity bill savings but also the much higher investment cost of the LED bulbs in the first place. To this effect then it is best to perform an overall cost of ownership analysis for the LED lamps taking into account the initial investment and the running costs.
Overall Cost of Ownership Analysis for LED MR16An LED bulb will have a typical lifespan of around 30000 hours compared to around 1000 hours for a traditional incandescent light bulb. This means that during the lifespan of the LED bulb you would have had to of purchased 30 traditional bulbs and had all the associated hassle with bulb changing and disposal of the failed light bulbs. The best way then to perform the analysis is to work out the cost of purchasing and LED bulb and running it for its lifespan and compare this to the cost of purchasing 30 traditional light bulbs and their associated running costs.
If we take the cost of the LED MR16 to be £15 and add this to the running costs of this bulb for its lifetime then this gives a total cost of ownership of £28.50. This assumes that the cost of electricity is 15p per kW hour.
Then a 3watt LED bulb will produce approximately the same lumens light output as a 25 watt traditional light bulb. Also the rated life is typically around 1000 hours. This means that assuming that the cost of the light bulb is £0.80 then the electricity costs for 30000 hours use work out at £112.50 which then provides a total cost of ownership of £136.50.
This results in a massive saving of £108 for each LED bulb purchased over its lifetime.
Now the MR16 LED comes in 2 forms. There is the multiple LED bulb with 80 individual spot LED's which give a total output of 3 watts or the high powered LED which has typically 3 individual 1 watt LED's. The high powered LED's are typically 50% more expensive so initially you would think that these are a far more expensive option. However, then main factor in this calculation is the running costs of the LED and accordingly the 80 LED MR16 saves £112 over its lifetime and the high powered LED MR16 saves £108 as shown previously!!! Therefore as a percentage of total costs then the high powered LED MR16 is only costing an additional 4%.
So either way for every LED bulb you buy you save well over £100 over its lifespan.
