Standard Light Bulb Caps
The majority of General Lighting Service(GLS), globe, candle and spiral light bulbs come with either a bayonet of screw fitting. The bayonet fitting has been the most common in the UK and the screw fitting originally in Europe but now also becoming popular in the UK. There are 4 main types.

Large Bayonet: This cap fitting is known as the BC or B22 and is a large bayonet fitting with an approximate diameter of 22mm |

|
Small Bayonet: This cap fitting is known as the SBC or B15 and is a large bayonet fitting with an approximate diameter of 15mm |
|
|
Large Screw:This cap fitting is known as the ES or E27 and is a large screw fitting with a diameter of approximately 27mm |
|
|
Small Screw:This cap fitting is known as the SES or E14 and is a large screw fitting with a diameter of approximately 14mm |
Spot Light Caps
Spot light fittings tend to be one of 2 types:-

GU5.3: The GU5.3 cap for the MR16 low voltage lamp has 2 thin pins 5.3mm apart on the base of the lamp which push straight into the fitting |

|
GU10: The GU10 cap fitting which is a mains voltage lamp fitting which has 2 pins with large ends. To insert these lamps, you place in the holder and turn slightly clockwise to lock in position. |
Push Fit
These cap fittings are on the mains push fit lamps and have unique fittings for differnt lamp wattages and types. They are to prevent the wrong lamps from being fitted

G23: This is push fit with a square end and 2 pins spaced 23mm apart |

2G7: This is a push fit with 4 pins in a row |
|
|
G24D: This is a push with a square end and 2 pins |
|
|
G24Q: This is a push with a square end and 4 pins |
|
|
GX24D and GX24Q: These are variations on the G24D and G24Q for triple turn CFLs |
2D lamps
|
|
GR8: This is a 2 pin fitting generally used on 2D LEDs and CFLs |
|
|
GR10q: This is a 4 pin fitting generally used on 2D LEDs and CFLs |
LED/ Halogen Capsules and Tubes

|
G4: This fitting is on low voltage capsules with the pins 4mm apart |
|
|
G6.35: This fitting is on low voltage capsules with the pins 6.35mm apart |
|
|
G9: This fitting is on mains voltage capsules with 2 pins |
|
|
R7: These fittings are standard on J118 (118mm long) and J78 (78mm long) halogen and LED tubes |
LED Tubes

G13: These fittings are standard on T8 and T12 tubes |
