Fluorescent TubesFluorescent tubes produce over half of all the artificial light in the world. They are chosen because of their economical cost and there high efficency in light output typically as high as 100 lumens per watt. As a result they use only around 20% of the electricity of a standard incandescent filament bulb and last around 10 to 12 times as long with a typical life of 12000 hours.
